A Commentary on Trek

Although I love all things Trek, I'm less enthusiastic to see its latest incarnation. The 2009 reboot or alternate time line version, if you will, left a bad taste in my mouth. I'm glad that Star Trek is getting all the attention again and that they were able to finally launch a new movie franchise but as a long time Trek fan, i could definitely say that it does not feel like Star Trek.

I started watching Star Trek during The Next Generation run and then I started going back to The Original Series. I have enjoyed most of the movies with TOS and TNG cast even the ones that critics love to hate (the odd-numbered sequels). I was blown away when I saw the final episode of TNG, "All Good Things...", which I think is way better than the movie Generations (although I love seeing Kirk and Picard together) and I even enjoyed Deep Space Nine and Voyager.

Iron Man 3 - #1 Movie in the World

WOW! As expected, Iron Man 3 totally demolished the competition in the box office last weekend. Words alone are not enough to describe this so just check out the video below as uploaded by Marvel in their official YouTube channel:

Not to be outdone by the Iron Man juggernaut, DC Comics just released a brand new Man of Steel banner to remind fans that next month, the movie of DC Comics' flagship superhero, Superman, would be released. I, among many, are rooting for Zack Snyder's take on the Man of Steel to finally give us the Superman movie that we deserve. Here in the Philippines, we were able to get screenings of Iron Man 3 a week ahead of its U.S. premiere. Just saw it last night and overall it was a pretty enjoyable film. Lots of action and lots of humor that would please most fans, both geeks and non-geeks alike. Phase 2 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe has officially begun!
